Saturday Art Classes, 2017

October 31, 2017 By artgarage Leave a Comment

Saturday art classes at the garage are off to a great start. Here’s what’s happening so far. In the age 8 and up class we worked on negative space drawings and then added watercolor to make them pop. I always love this lesson because it really helps students draw things with the correct proportions. I use leaves and ribbons as the subject and pin them to a board the same size as the paper. Seeing negative shapes really helps the drawing process.

The Teen/Adult class started with value drawings with graphite pencil and moved on to Prismacolor pencils on gray paper. Understanding value is the first step in learning how to render form.

Kids, how about buying Mom a spot in Highlands Art Garage’s upcoming Batik Workshop. Mom’s like to get creative every once in a while. Remember that cabbage casserole she made that nobody liked? Yuck. Or the time she painted your bedroom purple to surprise you? Moms why not treat yourself this year? You deserve it! Teens and Dads are welcome too.
