Batik Workshops at Highlands Art Garage are awesome! Batik is a process by which melted wax is applied to cotton fabric to resist or retain several layers of color. It’s a little confusing, the process requires some thought and an open mind. Generally, folks that attend have no experience with batik, and yet each of their designs turns out to be unique and compelling. Here are a few detail shots of the final pieces hanging out to dry after I removed the wax and excess dye. Kirsten took it a step further by making pillows with her designs!
