Our beginner painting lesson involved mixing colors with a palette knife to make the different values needed to paint a cube. You need 3 values, Hue, Tint– the hue mixed with white and Tone – the hue mixed with it’s complimentary color. The values are then painted on the drawing of a cube. Viola.
The kids in Saturday Art class are now working on their second value drawing. This time they are using black and white photos I’ve taken of simple still life set ups. The print outs help them see and match the values with their shading using drawing pencils.
