Susan Benarcik and Linda Celestian hosted a group of 15 friends for an Art Adventure Party in the classroom of Highlands Art Garage. The group contacted us and asked us to design something fun for them. We inquired about their interests so we could present inspiration to the group to help them get in the a creative frame of mind.
We learned that this group really liked hiking in nature and drinking beer. We put together a presentation that showed the inspiration and design of logos and beer labels from a variety of brewers. You didn’t have to stick to that as a theme but it really helped the guys get into the project.
Linocut is a carving process done on pieces of linoleum. After a drawing is transferred to the linoleum sections of the design are carved away. You can carve a little or a lot for different effects. The plate is then inked and printed. We printed on coasters and cocktail napkins to go with the beer drinking theme. Prints were also made on fine art paper and greeting cards.
Luckily no major injuries were incurred during this activity and everyone had a great time.
